What happened
Every Learner Everywhere previewed the Lighthouse Courseware Implementation project, an initiative for department-level Calculus I implementations of AI-enabled courseware with evidence-based teaching practices. It says 12 institutions will work in two cohorts, introducing Learnvia in fall 2026 or spring 2027, with math departments implementing in as many as 10 sections at once. Every Learner is project manager; named partners are the John N. Gardner Institute, TPSE Math, WestEd, and Learnvia.
Why it matters
For educators and course designers, the report’s practical signal is that the project is treating courseware as one part of coordinated course redesign, not as a stand-alone intervention. The BEACON Framework asks departments to set outcomes, analyze baseline data and course fit, co-design student learning experiences, prepare LMS and courseware shells, support faculty and students, and review outcomes, analytics, and feedback over time.
What to do next
Teams considering similar work should check whether they have departmental commitment, governance, data-use norms, IT, advising, tutoring, teaching-center, bookstore, and institutional research input before implementation. The evidence does not yet report results from the project, so leaders should avoid assuming impact and watch for the planned case studies, webinars, practical tools, and evaluation led by WestEd.
