TutorFlow's assessment tools let educators create quizzes and exams without starting from a blank page. You describe the subject, level, and question mix, and TutorFlow generates a ready-to-review test in minutes.
A test can be delivered online in your classroom, or exported as a PDF with a matching answer key for printed use.
At a glance
- Five question types: multiple-choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, open-ended, and submission.
- Automatic grading where it is possible. Multiple-choice, true/false, and blank answers are scored on submission. Open-ended and submission answers wait for you.
- Online or printed delivery. Run the test in the classroom, or export a PDF with its answer key.
- AI-drafted, human-reviewed. TutorFlow writes the first draft from a prompt or your reference file; you review, edit, and approve before learners see it.
- Mix types in one test. A single test can combine all five.
Supported question types
| Type | Best for | Grading |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple choice | Knowledge checks, factual recall, concept verification | Automatic |
| True / false | Quick checks of a single claim | Automatic |
| Fill in the blank | Terms, values, and short exact answers | Automatic, with lenient matching of spacing and case |
| Open-ended | Written responses, essays, reflection, show-your-work problems | You grade and set the score |
| Submission | Work handed in as an uploaded file | You grade and set the score |
Where coding questions live
Coding problems are not a test question type. They are a lesson type: add a Coding Test lesson to a course, and TutorFlow runs each learner's code against the expected results and grades it automatically. See Create Coding Courses.
Question text is Markdown with LaTeX, so a question can carry a formula or an image. A diagram-reading item is usually a multiple-choice or open-ended question with the figure in the question text.
Common use cases
- Entry assessments. Gauge prior knowledge before starting a course.
- Formative quizzes. Quick checks at the end of a lesson to confirm understanding.
- Summative exams. Midterm or final assessments at the end of a course or chapter.
- Certification tests. Pass marks and certificates for compliance and onboarding programs.
- Language tests. Reading and written response in one test, with listening and speaking practice handled by the language lesson types in a course.
How TutorFlow reduces assessment overhead
Writing good test questions takes time. For a typical 20-question exam, an instructor has to draft questions at the right difficulty, verify that answers are unambiguous, create a matching answer key, and format everything for delivery. TutorFlow handles the drafting step, so educators spend their time on review and calibration rather than creating from scratch.
You remain in control of the final assessment. TutorFlow produces a draft that you review, edit, and approve before delivering to learners. The AI generates; you decide.
PDF export with answer key
Any test created in TutorFlow can be exported as a formatted PDF document. The export includes a separate answer key, making it straightforward to prepare printed materials for in-person exams or offline delivery.
